Its Game Over For Lakers As Nuggets Took Game 4 With 113-111

LeBron James did everything he could to prevent Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets from making their first-ever NBA Finals, including recording the most points in a playoff half in his illustrious career.

With a 113-111 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers in Game 4 at Arena, Jokic, who has been engaging in a thrilling playoff duel with James, helped the Nuggets complete their first playoff sweep in team history.

James put on an outstanding throwback performance, scoring 31 points in the first half before finishing with 40 points, 10 rebounds, and 9 assists.

Jokic, who was awarded the Magic Johnson Western Conference Finals MVP, held off James.

James, 38, set an NBA record by scoring 40 points in a playoff game, but his last-second attempt to force OT was stopped when Jamal Murray grabbed the ball before James could shoot, and Aaron Gordon then blocked his shot with 1.4 seconds left.

James could only watch as Murray screamed in joy and was surrounded by the Denver bench when time ran out.

The NBA Finals have been a long time coming for the Nuggets. Denver needed 46 seasons to get to this stage, which is the most seasons in NBA history before a Finals trip.

Denver had the most playoff victories ever without making the Finals with 93 as of Monday night.

But the Nuggets are concentrating on securing four more victories.

An NBA championship is closer than ever given how Murray and Jokic are performing as arguably the most formidable team in the league.

Murray and Jokic declared, “We want to stay locked in and go all the way.” “I believe that our chemistry is at an all-time high, based on the way we play and how we read the game without even talking to each other. On the court, we use that vocabulary.

“Honestly, this basketball is absolutely lovely. Playing with this squad, him, and the coaching staff who helped us develop into the unit we are now is so much joy. There are still four wins left for us.

With 30 points, 14 rebounds, and 13 assists in 45 minutes, Jokic recorded his ninth triple-double of the postseason, which is an NBA playoff record.

In the closing 2:50 of the game, he scored five points, including perhaps the two largest baskets of the contest.

Jokic eliminated Devin Booker, Kevin Durant, and the Phoenix Suns in the second round by averaging a triple-double.

And to defeat James, Anthony Davis, and the Lakers, he averaged a triple-double.

Denver coach Michael Malone said, “I think he’s showing other people nationwide that he’s legitimate. As though what he is doing is genuine.

The [two] MVPs actually exist. The triple-doubles actually exist. The ridiculous arguments this year (against him for MVP) are merely absurd and insufficiently informed.

Nikola has reportedly averaged a triple-double in the playoffs over the past three rounds.

Have you come across any stat padding online? I’m serious; stop being silly. Give the guy his due recognition; he’s a superb player.

Put an end to hacking him off at the knees. Give him the respect he deserves; he’s a superb player.

Jokic claimed he wasn’t terrified but was “worried” about having to close out the Lakers with James on the opposite side after taking a 3-0 lead in the game on Saturday night.

The Lakers star, according to Jokic, is capable of “everything.” It seems as though Jokic was predicting what would happen.

James was determined to prevent getting swept in a playoff series before the NBA Finals, and he played the entirety of the first half with the exception of four seconds.

In his professional career, the Golden State Warriors and San Antonio Spurs have both swept him in the Finals. read full article
