On Sunday, July 9, a woman from Anse La Raye tragically lost her boyfriend to gun violence and is now demanding justice for the father of her children.
The mother of two described her grief and the terrible toll it has taken on her family.
At around 8:40 p.m., police from the Anse La Raye Police Station responded to a report of gunfire at the local fishing complex.
When they arrived, they found two individuals who appeared to have been shot in the body.
The victims were eventually identified as Ronnie “Rico” Edwin from Arundel Hill, Castries, and Ernil Emil Emmanuel, a 29-year-old man from Anse La Raye.
Speaking to reporters, Emmanuel’s girlfriend stated her desire for the perpetrator to be brought to justice.
She vowed, “Whoever did that is going to pay for it.”
She characterized Emmanuel as a cheerful person who was adored by many people but who was regrettably taken advantage of by so-called friends.
He was cruel to them, but his heart was kind, and he was always ready to lend a hand.
Since Emmanuel was the family’s sole source of income, his death not only has a profound emotional impact but also has important practical ramifications.
The distraught mother recognizes the difficult path ahead, particularly for their six-year-old daughter who keeps pleading with her to be with her father.
The loss of a loved one leaves the family feeling empty and painful.
The island now has 47 homicides after the double homicide in Anse La Ray.
Anyone with information on the incident is urged to call the Anse La Raye Police Station at 456-3600 or the anonymous Crime hotline at 555, according to the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force.
